Yeah,  make sure there are no barrels, as soon as I removed my barrels from the seed stockpile, the farmer stopped walking off and it stopped all the problems. For some reason the barrels confuse em, just having the plain old bags is good.

They started dumping a ton of seed bags into one barrel, how do I get rid of the barrel in my seed stockpile?

<q> over the stockpile, then adjust barrels to 0 (<E>?).

But you might have to create a new seed stockpile w/ no barrels to get them to actually empty the barrel.  They won't move it and leave the seeds.

tip: since you can only get 200 of any kind of seed through eating/brewing/milling, and they fit 100 in a bag, make a 2x1 stockpile for each kind of seed, no barrels. (yeah, cap-E)

tip 2: Mouse works on stockpile filter screen

ok, I made a no-barrel seed stockpile and moved my seeds there, it is now a 3-tile walk from the farm plot to the nearest plump helmet spawn, I have at least 6 people with the farm fields labor enabled, but the plot still frickin says "No seeds available for this location."

Edit: found the problem, my muddy stones dried out after a year I guess...
