I like to slip into bear caves around midnight and gently caress the carnivore inside before leaving a small cut of fresh fish and sneaking out.

In the campy spirit of Pirates Gold! the Disney Pirates online (aka Pirates of the Caribbean) offers a real simplistic, mindless yet oddly fun version of ship to ship combat. Its free. I have played for about 2 hrs now, and its ok..wrth looking at..only takes about 10 mins to install and about 10 more mins of gameplay to get your first ship..the ground game, grafics and interface are sub-optimal but, the ship game is ok..a hell of alot like Gold!, and you can have other players onboard working the guns..meh worth the time it takes to instal I think

Pirates of the burning sea is a MMO that came out not too long ago.  I heard mixed things about it, but they have a free trial, so you can take a look for yourself.

Confirming that its a good game, though its a bit grind heavy and pvp centric.

I'm a little hesitant to suggest this, but several years ago this Russian company called Akella made this game called Pirates of the Caribbean, which thankfully doesn't really resemble the film at all, because it was originally called Sea Dogs 2.

You could sort of describe it as a somewhat more RPGified version of Pirates, and while everything is a little clunky at first, especially swordfighting and navigation (augh where is this Falaise de Fleur you speak of), I really think it's up there with what Sid Meier made. If you don't mind being manhandled a bit by the game, there's a lot of awesome in there to be found.

Incidentally, I seem to recall I had the most fun after I modded the game files to make my character max level in everything at the start, so consider doing that if you actually play it.

It's not an RPG, but I can't resist this opportunity to bring up Ancient Conquest, the first RTS I ever played.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
It was really neat, with things like ramming, boarding and ship equipment customization.

Good luck finding it, though.

Curse you! I've searched for ages for that game, and only found it when I went to Uni where one dude had the CD. Of course, I searched for it way before 2007, but still, the ease with which you found is infuriating.
