Dwarfs founded a TOWN to escape my wrath?
« on: May 25, 2009, 03:55:14 pm »

Something really strange happened today playing Adventure Mode. I was playing a learning Bronze Colossus, and after wiping out the elves moved on to the Dwarfs. I swept through, killing the King, Queen, Diplomat, Liason, Mayor, and their greatest champion in one epic showdown, lasting approximately 10 rounds. But that's not the weird part. As usual, when I left a bunch of refugees were headed for the hills. But when I was gone a few weeks plundering orc towers, I noticed that a new town had appeared. Thinking humans had spontaneously evolved into my Smaller world, I headed on over there to see what was up.

Imagine my surprise when a dozen Dwarf soldiers rush from the bushes, attempting to kill my poor little God of War. I was able to win in the end, no trouble, but still! I had no idea the little guys were smart enough to do this, especially since it was a town and not a mountainhome. has this happened to anyone else?

Ok, small update. I retired and checked the legends, that town had always been there, but the humans had been pushed out back in 2, and the Dwarfs re-colonized it the same year the Queen went bye-bye.

Coincidentally, the goblin civ has declared open war on the orc civ, because I've gone into the orc tower, and found a goblin, elf, and dwarf guard fighting the priests. They obviously lost, but it was still interesting.

yeah, I was gonna say, dwarves don't build above ground towns. Obviously though they can take them over. Would be neat if they dug a new mountian home under the city.

It would be... sucks they're all dead now  ;D

And yeah, I know they don't, that's why it shocked me. I'm still wondering why I never noticed the ruins, though. The only evidence humans were ever there was the fact that there was still a piece or two of the tavern left.

This stuff -their preferences for habitats- is all in the entity raws. For similar reasons you will sometiems find human forest retreats.

You know what this means: trying to convince all civs to build a giant town/retreat/fortress/tower metropolis.

Indeed. After seeing the damage one BC could cause, I actually made a CIV of them. Obviously, it's not a breeding civ. That'd be too great. Instead, I've 100-pop BC civs engaging anyone they find worthy to utterly destroy. Actually considering making a Megabeast civ mod for myself.

Cool, although I think I've seen it mentioned where you can put a [controllable] tag on something in the raws and someone has mentioned playing as a nightwing, I think. Also people have mentioned flying adventurers, so...

Its more fun to make your own creatures to adventure as if you ask me. I love my 8 armed, venom injecting, knife-handed war god.

I once made a darn-near invulnerable adventurer once with that.  I managed to destroy entire civilizations on my own.  The dude died by me forgetting to back up the change before upgrading versions, and I stood in the middle of a fire.  By the time I figured it out, it was too late.  Another one of them, toned down a bit, managed to go on a mad rampage against the elves.  With one hand.  He wielded a sword and shield in that hand.

Man.  CJ, that warden frightens me.

The only thing I really mod in, is aliens and monsters to kill. One time I made this truely vile beast called the queen of death...

And this even viler beast called a Walf.

thats actually pretty cool that the refugees are smart enough to reoccupy old lands.

as for modded adventurers, i'd say my worst creation ever was carp-man  :o
