Games With Realistic (Non-Propane) Flamethrowers?
« on: June 29, 2011, 04:45:13 pm »

Pretty much every game (maybe every game) I've ever played involving flamethrowers has made them act like guns, shooting out a line but it's fire instead of bullets.

Now, look at this. Does that look like that? I don't think so.

So, anyone know of any games that replicate flamethrowers in any decent way?

There is a flamethrower weapon in Tremulous (tremulous.net). It seems reasonably  realistic to me. I works because its a limited range weapon, but the opponents you're fighting (aliens) have close range attacks only (mostly).

The most realistic flamethrower i've seen (bear in mind that i didn't see too many) was in Enemy Territory : Wolfenstein. It wasn't a gun, it threw flames.

Gearhead 2 has shotguns that can be loaded with incendiary rounds, which cause a cone of death in front of you. You can also load autoshotguns with said rounds, which causes about 5 cones of death in front of you per turn. Given that its an ascii roguelike, I doubt its what you had in mind.

Ustxu Iceraped the Frigid Crystal of Slaughter was a glacier titan. It was the only one of its kind. A gigantic feathered carp composed of crystal glass. It has five mouths full of treacherous teeth, enormous clear wings, and ferocious blue eyes. Beware its icy breath! Ustxu was associated with oceans, glaciers, boats, and murder.
