[40d11] Profile reclaim bug.
« on: May 31, 2009, 12:13:30 am »

This might be a repeat, but I noticed that when I try and reclaim using a saved profile it displays tons of different squads of seven in the embark screen. When I actually do embark, I generally do so with around 63 dwarves. I've tried this using regular dwarf mode embark profiles as well as with embark-specific profiles.

To try recreating the bug for confirmation, I suggest making a profile and then trying to reclaim with it. I could post a screenshot if necessary.

Update: Now whenever I try and reclaim that spot, the same thing happens, even if I "prepare carefully" without using a profile.

You're aware that reclaiming always gives you many dwarves with military and civilian jobs? The idea is that reclaimers need to be able to fight off whatever creatures have invaded your fortress before they can settle down to the business of running the place.

I am aware, I had just always received seven dwarves in the past, rather than 63. That seemed like kind of a lot. Regardless, I guess this isn't really a bug.

Yeah, I think the maximum you can get is 70, and you'll always get some multiple of 7. I'm not certain what logic the game uses to decide how many dwarves you get, though. The few times I've reclaimed fortresses, I've gotten tons of dwarves without having much of anything to fight, so it doesn't seem to correlate well with the "threat level" of your fortress. Probably just another area that hasn't received much attention lately.
