Quick Animal Training
« on: January 29, 2010, 08:44:23 pm »

I'm trying to make a creature that is extemely weak but multiplies fast. I also need it to be everywhere and extremely aggressive.

Give it these

[SIZE:2]
[BIOME:ANY_LAND]
[liTTERSIZE:10:20]
[LARGE_ROAMING]
[LARGE_PREDATOR]
[liKES_FIGHTING]
[POPULATION_NUMBER:10:20]
[CLUSTER_NUMBER:10:20]

That should cause it to be very weak, live everywhere in huge numbers and appear in ambush groups of 10-20 at a time.
If you want to go overboard making it weak, you could reduce its attack damage to be 0:0, essentially unable to hurt anything.

In order to improve the universe's frame rate, we must all throw rocks into volcanoes and then do absolutely nothing, worldwide, for a week, to take pressure off pathfinding.
or maybe throw them into the large hadron collider to atom-smash them instead.
Not to mention to throw all available animals into tiny pits.

1. Give it a weak ATTACK.
2. Give it no BABY tag.
3. Give it [CHILD:1]. Try [CHILD:0], but if that doesn't work, use [CHILD:1].
4. Give it high CLUSTERNUMBER.
5. Give it some form of CURIOUSBEAST so that it annoys your populous.
6. Give it [FREQUENCY:100].
7. Give it [LARGE_ROAMING].
8. Give it high LITTERSIZE.
9. If you want them to spread out, give them [LOOSE_CLUSTERS]. Without this, they will stay near each-other.
10. If you want them to mess with levers and stuff, give them MISCHIEVIOUS.
11. Make sure they don't have [MULTIPLE_LITTER_RARE]
12. Give it high POPULATION_NUMBER
13. Give it a low SIZE if you want, because that can factor into combat.
14. MOST IMPORTANT: Go here[/url and [url=http://dwarffortresswiki.net/index.php/Category:Modding]here, and do some reading.

It's not true, they will be able to hurt creatures with negative damblock still (like elves).

If you don't want it to be able to deal damage, just remove attacks altogether.

Then they will just "push" in extreme cases so Eagle is totally right. What's the point of it to be aggressive and deal NO damage though?

Give it 1:1 GORE, so that they can swarm and tear out eyes, leaving the rest of the body unscathed?

Actually, this sounds like a good idea for a locust plague.
-Huge numbers, with each SIZE:1 creature being a swarm of actual locusts.
-Flying.
-Devours food and drink.
-Fast reproduction.
-1:1 GORE that nonetheless could eventually strip a dwarf to his bones.
-High DAMBLOCK to imitate how hard it is to hit each one.
-Immunity to almost all status effects.
-Trap avoidance so that your defences are useless, OR, Trap vulnerability so that your cages get overrun and filled with harmless individuals, and weapon traps get clogged and stop working.

This is incredible, I must test this!

Optional: IMMOLATE

Apparently having a redundant creature entry causes the game to say, "Oh, look, it's crazy world now. Nothing makes sense! Alligators live in houses!"

Large predator need its second ] to work.

Littersize 2000:4000 is going to murder your framerate/computer. Something makes me doubt most computers could handle that many creatures appearing out of nowhere.

Nah they appear one at a time apparently. Just gotta wait till I get a breeding pair...

You have two [liTTERSIZE:] tags. Also, they're Quadrupeds.

What's wrong with them being quadrupeds?

Nothing, just thought it was something you hadn't noticed, in-case you wanted them to be humanoid.
