(40d11) Strangling causes death by blood loss?

"The Giant strangles Your throat!"
"The Giant strangles Your throat!"
"The Giant strangles Your throat!"
"The Giant strangles Your throat!"
"You have bled to death."

Shouldn't you suffocate if you're being strangled? Or is it that the death-grip of this giant is powerful enough to rupture my jugular vein?  Heh.

Also worth noting, my character had no previous injuries whatsoever.  He had just killed a GCS in 2 hits when he finds this giant, so I throw some loam at the giant and miss.  Then he charges at me but I block him, we collide and I am knocked over.  He then places a chokehold on my throat with his right upper arm, strangles me once, and then I pass out.  Then he strangles me about 20 more times and I bleed to death.

Anyway, I figure that the dwarves are only marginally less wasteful of metal than they are of wood. The moody dwarf's selecting only the best 5% of each bar of metal, and eats the rest to sustain him as he works on the artifact.
