it's a shame stone does not stack to a depth of.. say, 100, without a bin in a stockpile, where you can cause it to be stacked as deep as you want with the catapult.

Or quantum stockpiling.  They both work, just one moves it farther faster.

Eh, some call it an "exploit", but I see it as a necessity. If I couldn't stack all my junk on one tile, I'd have to cover the entire map with the junk I want to get rid of.. which is exactly what I'm trying to avoid in the first place!

I then proceed to atom smash the crap out of the dump pile, et voila, pristine clean dwarven world.

Now if only my dwarves could carry more than one ring, or shoe, or sock at a time, it'd speed the dumping of the hundreds, if not thousands, of goblin clothes lying about the land.

Well, you can always CAGE them if you're up for a feat of engineering.

Anyway, I usually have a captain of the guard because it seems that immigrants are loath to come to a fortress without one.
