Open vertical bars interfering with wagon access?
« on: December 03, 2007, 08:21:00 am »

I have a "portcullis" right in front of my trade depot (consisting of vertical iron bars). Right now, all of these bars are raised. Yet the "D" menu shows that the depot is not accessible by wagons. (it always worked before I put in the bars).

So... am I missing something, or is this a bug?

If they are raised I assume it means that they are like walls.
Raised = ^^^^ bars.
Lowered = ---- retracted.

Probably because there's no guarantee you'll have a roof when you build this, so they come up from the floor instead.

Maybe all objects that have toggleable passability register as impassable to caravans? Anyone tried with floodgates?

Do doors on levers interfere with Depot access as well?

It works with floodgates.

I'll confirm that (my current fort has an underground depot with 3 floodgates as a limited defensive measure, caravans have full access).

Doors of any kind, bars of any kind, and hatches (if covering a ramp the caravan needs to use) all block access. Floodgates and bridges do not. Only problem is you can crush dwarves in gates and bridges, but not any of the others.

Floodgates don't crush anyone or anything. A xx(Large Rope Reed Sock)xx will block a floodgate and prevent it from closing, many forts have expired this way. :(
