Car Alarms
« on: May 14, 2009, 12:16:36 am »

One thing I've observed, but never seen mentioned, is how it seems Car Alarms are only found on newer cars, and how certain Vehicle types are more likely to be older models.

In my experience, you can divide up the Vehicles into two groups: Those which are usually new, and those which usually aren't.

Those which usually are new: SUV, Station Wagon, Sportscar, Police Car

Those which usually are not: Truck, Van, Jeep, Bug, Taxi

Those which I've classified, but have little experience with: Police Car, Taxi

Am I on to something, or just seeing patterns that don't exist, or just dredging up an old topic?

I've seen the exact same thing.  I assumed that was W.A.D.

I'm not sure about Sportscars.  I only seem to find brand new ones, or 1993/4 models, but they always have alarms.

I didn't read liberally enough.  Disregard the conservative ignorance in my last post.

I don't remember the exact years, but IIRC, I too have encountered older sports cars w/ alarms.

Most of the station wagons I seem to encounter are from the 1970s/1980s. New ones seem to be fairly rare, in my experience.

It's like that for me too, only, every kind of vehicle is usually an older model.

I'll admit to being wrong on the station wagons (I usually don't try and jack station wagons).

But, I've almost never seen an SUV more than ten years old, and most have alarms.

IIRC, that changes with the applicable skill.
