Sound but no video
« on: May 20, 2009, 07:09:26 pm »

When I try to start the game, I get the standard full screen/windowed box. When the game comes up in either mode, I get a red bar in the dead center about an inch down for one second, then the screen goes black. The sound, however, is working fine, which suggests the game itself is running.

I searched the forums, and on the few threads I found that address similar issues none of their suggestions helped. I use an ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 graphics card (laptop so I can't replace it), and according to both the website and the windows automatic updater the drivers up to date. The .bmp files are where they're supposed to be, and I've downloaded multiple versions of the game, none of which worked.

Is there anything else I can do aside from try to run it on a different computer?

I'm using the most recent version of Dwarf Fortress (0.28.181.40d) and Microsoft Windows XP.

Are you able to run any other OpenGL games?

Alright, I'm not entirely sure why, but when I reset my computer to fix an issue with my internet card Dwarf Fortress started working. I probably should have tried that before, thank you so much for the help.
