McAffe, with plots of world domination.
« on: May 20, 2009, 02:11:27 am »

I'm having problems with McAfee. Its destroying all my files because it reads a bunch of my stuff as trojans. So unless my PC is infected, big time, McAfee is..

 :oTAKING OVER MY COMPUTER! :o

No, really.

Anyway, the funniest part is that it's starting to eat it's self. It's detecting it's own files as trojans. I cannot wait to see how this plays out. In another story, I have nothing valuable on my PC that I really care about. As long as I get my PC working before Sims 3 comes out..I'm cool.

Oh, I can't do my work, either. I need Microsoft word. And it got rid of that. Or at least some of it, or..something. I can't start it up, at least.

EDIT- I just had a fun time deleting all the files it would let me. You know, it makes me unusually pleased when I get to mass-delete important files, or when I try to boot up McAfee and it tells me it cannot find the files.

Unusually pleased.

Sounds more like McAfee itself got infected.

Still, pretty funny. I'd recommend turning the whole thing off using selective startup.

McAfee is paranoid. It's a good AV, but it sucks up system resources and goes crazy on little things.

Yeah get rid of McAfee, and use Kaspersky. It's much better. [In fact it's the best AV software imo..]

McAfee is paranoid.
This. The moment you do something as little as rename its folder so it would stop bugging you, it immediately, and for ever start-up there after, insists that you format the hard-drive and delete EVERYTHING to stave off the evil scary bad virus.

I'm not even sure what you can say about that.

Lol, hyperbole, but it's funny because it's almost true.

Ugh, I hate McAfee...

Every few minutes, a message appears (making an annoying "DINGDING" sound) saying that it's not registered so it won't work properly. I press the "Register my program" button, and...nothing happens. At all. A few minutes later, it will appear again, and the same thing happens.

I'm sorry but I completely missed the point of that post, it just seems completely irrelevant...

McAfee seems to be perfectly servicable to me.  It doesn't cause problems, it doesn't freak out, and though the SOB devours my CPU like nothing else when it decides to scan, I've had no problem at all with viruses or such on this computer so far.  It also marked Gamespy as malware and deleted it, but for as far as I'm concerned, it just shared my opinion of it.

I use Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware(Which totally sounds like malware, but isn't.  It's the only AV I've ever seen that can get vundo.

I have Norton because I decided my dad can be in charge of the things I don't care about on the PC.
As far as I can see, it's like a slightly dim puppy. It likes yapping at me when it finds something small and wriggly.
