[40d]Aquatic Biome Creatures not spawning

Tested in 40d on various embark locations, none produced non-vermin aquatic creatures.

I've also tested previous versions to make sure I wasn't just getting unlucky.
40c and everything prior has non-vermin aquatic creatures spawning correctly.

One exception is cave river creatures.

"Various embark locations" meaning what?  Pools, rivers, oceans?  If just oceans, it's probably this:

# 000638 □ [dwarf mode][environment]   large ocean creatures unable to enter the play area

Various locations : multiple ocean-side places, with the majority of the map being water, multiple river/stream locations and some cave rivers.

Everything except for cave rivers is empty of larger aquatic entities.
This basically means a lack of crocs, alligators, hippos, the dreaded carp and such.
Please do try embarking on a minor or major river in 40d, then try 40c.

I imagine it's the same bug, I couldn't find any posts on it in this forum, though, possibly the wrong search terms.

Did the locations include multiple biomes in multiple worlds?  I've seen loads of carp in rivers running through temperate forests in 40d.

I did try multiple biomes, I'll try on temperate later today, but even so, standard fish should be in all river/lake types except for salt ones, and I had plenty of embarks on places not even close to the oceans, and even in salt water there should be plenty of critters.

I've tried multiple worlds and biomes, no fish.

Tried it on a clean install.

...been testing some more while making this post, interesting findings.
lakes : no creatures
rivers : no creatures
oceans : no creatures
streams : creatures
ponds : depends on if there's a stream, it seems.

this is really bizarre

Aaaaand a final addendum.
It seems there's plenty of fish in my current world, in all places, this thread can be ignored.
