It might be fun to have chocolate in the game.  Find the secret recipe and the right cocoa tree and some milk and sugar and make chocolate and eat it.  Perhaps you could make coins and crafts out of it.  And it makes the dwarves (or elves or humans etc) very happy.  But then if they don't have any after getting addicted they get unhappy because of the withdrawal.  And being a chocolate addict means more frequent breaks for a chocolate break.  And increases the chance of being overweight with reductions to endurance etc.

Maybe chocolate is the human (or other race) equivelant for dwarven beer.

Or more whimsically maybe we'll be able to play as the fairy race one day.  They can craft chocolate (or candy) with magical properties and make all sorts of furniture out of the stuff....

i don't know about addiction but dwarfven desserts would be a good addition, if available when a dwarf gets a meal they would pick up a dessert as well to get extra happy thoughts

Chocolate would make a neat recipe from milk, sugar, and chocolate.   Dwarven cocoa!    Chocolate coins, too, would be amusing.

I don't see whats wrong with Chocoloate... I mean, it isn't exactly a modern invention is it?

If there was something like Chocolate in it though then I think that it should only be available through trade with Elves. That way, there is at least something useful to get from them.

Getting cocoa requires enslaving, oppressing, and torturing those poor cocoa trees, though...

Should probably be more regionally-based, chocolate could be easily made in tropical climates where cocoa trees grow wild but would be extremely valuable by the time it makes it to the tundra.

Solid chocolate was not created until the end of the 18th century, and was not of quality similar to modern chocolate until perhaps the late 19th century, so solid chocolate is somewhat anachronistic.

The chocolate you get in a mars bar is NOT real chocolate. Its more like a block of sugar with chocolate IN it. Real chocolate is far less sweet.

Chocolate and other sweets would have to be handled carefully. Otherwise it adds another layer of decadence and for all we know obesity and heart disease will go in someday.

this is mainly because cacao trees are native to the new world so didn't reach europe in any real quantity until 1700 or so (not sure exactly).
theres no reason why a fantasy world should have to mirror real world geography and since dwarfs already have sugar, milk and flour they should be able to make something pretty good

Cocoa requires special processing. Im not sure a dwarf could do it in an underground farmers workshop.

That said, there is no reason humans and other cultures would not farm and process such products outdoors. Especially since outdoor farming will become part of the norm.

Make cocoa an extract from an outdoor shrub located only in trocpical moist forests, wait for cooking to go in, add recipe that uses cocoa, milk and sugar.
