Forced Surface-level pipes?

Is there any way to mod DF so that all magma pipes are forced to extend to the surface?  I'm tired of having to dig around to find the things.

 Alas, the world-gen algorithms and the feature code are not modifiable. However, digging for one under the surface can be made a lot easier if you know how a map works.

 Before you embark, note how many local tiles the site takes up and which tile the magma pipe is in. Each local tile is 32 ingame tiles across and tall. Using that, count the squares away from an edge 'till you find the tile in the very center of the local tile the magma pipe was shown in. Digging directly down from there will reveal the thing.

 Ir just get Reveal, copy your game folder, reveal the copy and note the location for the legit copy.

That would work, but it makes me fail at my current challenge - a glass tower without ever breaking ground, even just for aquifer water or underground farming or sand or anything.

Maybe I could try boosting the number of volcanoes or something, I'd gotten that to work before.....

 Indeed, volcanoes tend to break the surface more often. Also, volcanoes on slopes tend to make holes so they always appear.

Actually they are 48x48 and depth is variable
