Now we're shopping with portals.

...Awesome.

Edit: Oh, and I took the survey. I never knew there were so many different ways to buy foods, man. Then again I'm not exactly a shopping person myself.

Hey everyone, Part Two of the survey is up, so feel free to fill it out if you're so inclined.  Thanks again for all the great responses!  Special thanks to Strife26 for pointing out the similarities between my disclaimer and the Aperture Science disclaimer.

Personally, I'd prefer a device much like a PDA, but cheaper and with less functionality. About the size of a GPS.

Funny you should mention that - part of the project is trying to decide if a custom hardware "gadget" would appeal to people, or whether they'd rather use their smartphone/PDA.  I'm looking at something about the size of a TV remote / small water bottle / GPS receiver but there's a lot of functionality I would need to cram in.

Also: who RickRoll'd my survey?

It'd be nice if there was an option at the end with the word fanaggle.

I compared it with apeture science? I don't remember this, nor do I know what Apeture science is . . .

Took the second survey as well. Tell me when this thingee goes on the market.

I took the second part, but I'm doubting how many people want to check everything they buy out twice. Once when they buy it and once when they enter it into the 'system'.

Yeah, the concept of operations - getting people to agree to scan items - is tough.  But remember, if you scan your current inventory, you may only need to scan each unique item the first time you buy it.  Anything you throw out you can remove from your online inventory; anything you buy that's on a shopping list you can confirm that you purchased without scanning it.

So you buy milk today and then a week from now you run out.  You tell the system (via the website or your smartphone or whatever) that you're out of milk.  It moves it to your shopping list.  While you're shopping, you tick off "I picked up milk" when you move the milk to your cart.  When you get home and upload the ticked-off list to your inventory, the milk goes back in.  If you prefer to scan the milk as you put it in your cart (or when you get home and are putting it in the fridge), you can do it that way.

I really appreciate all the detailed feedback - thanks!
