Multi Tile Gears
« on: April 24, 2009, 08:25:24 pm »

Why? Because I want to make a giant 3 story set of meat grinders under my bridge to *process* the elves! seriously though, What is not to like?

Giant spinning gears with walls atatched to them to make giant revolving doors, combine this with cloth and metal belts (like big moving walkway type belts) and we can make transportation infrastructure!

MCElf: Say, this tunnel we are walking down is moving!
MCElfy: Look! giant gears at the end! RUN!!!
MCElf: *Puff* *Puff* Augghhh we are getting closer!
MCElfy: Heeeelll... *Screams* =WHIIIRRRR= *Splatter*
MCElf: Nooo!!! Heee..... *Screams* =WHIIIRRRR= *Splatter*

Everything in DF that is multi-tiled so far is weird looking at best.

3x3 rotating gears? I can't even imagine how awful that would look in text format... unless they were 1x3 tiles that represented a giant vertical cog...

But anyways... this is starting to get into goofy WoW-style environs and with all the ways there are to kill unsuspecting elves, I can't really imagine any good reason to have a giant gear relay around...

I can't can't really thing of any good reason to have a giant gear relay around...

You know, that's the second largest screwdriver I've ever seen.  I wish I had taken a picture.

I can't imagine a reason for there not to be.

Well, big gears, next to small gears, could change the amount of power and speed of certain machines.

i.e. a pump could pump water faster if attached to a small gear that is next to the large gear, but it would be weaker.

a very good point my friend, i have, myself, been pondering a way to reduce flow from pumps and the like, to aid in the development of my One-inch floor of magma trap.

dont know why i didnt think of it, but still, jolly good show old boy!

Yeah I want it for the reduction posiabilities too, Plus I think it would be really awesome to have massive doors hooked up to a gigantic gear (AKA LOTR Moria gates) It really seems very dwarfy.
