Dwarves shouldn't purposefully walk into lava under any circumstances whatsoever.

Yes, but Suicide is not the answer.

Dwarven wine is.

Thats actually a good idea. Melancholy dwarves should not burn in lava, they should drink until they drop...unless you dont have any alcohol.

Thinking about this on the way home, there might be an intermediate "despondent" stage to insanity where, if dwarves are mobile, they drink an amazing amount of alcohol. If they make it through, they come out of the funk. If they don't manage to drink it all, then they go melancholy, or nuts, or beserk.

In light of the turn this thread has taken, I just want to make something about my original point clear, in case it wasn't:

I'm not talking about suicidal dwarves.  If suicidal dwarves want to throw themselves into a pit of lava, well, that's a bit odd, but it's fine with me.

I'm talking about regular, happy, everyday dwarves who are interested in getting to that piece of lumber on the other side of the lava aquaduct.  They happily just walk right into the lava, and die.  That shouldn't happen.

That's been reported on the bug reports -- it's on to do.
