Make a sentence using gem windows, the trick being to have them as alternating colors. Extra bonus points if you can make a block of gem windows that flash into a default color on the first frame, a continuation of the default with a different colored message, and a continuation of the default with a message in a third color. Kind of like those road signs that flash to spell out different words.

Right, I've got my design for the double helix.. I think I might as well connect two towers to it for .. stuff.

I'll build it now and see if it works out.

Edit:
3D dwarf showed me a bit of a design flaw ;D

Time for an organized cave in.

How I was building:

(top view)
Code: [Select]

  XX  XX
    XX

While I should have been building

Code: [Select]
      XX
        XX
XX
  XX

Otherwise I'll never get two congruent spirals.. I was building them symmetrical. Durr.

This would be the basic outline.. It's not *exactly* the Chambord stairway as designed by Da Vinci (the whole castle is a masterpiece. If you're ever planning on visiting the Loire valley, visit Chateau de Chambord!), but it's "getting there". Cough.  ;)

I'll probably turn it into a double helix staircase with only minor walls, instead of this skeleton, and connect a tower or two at one of the junctions.

Time to set up another organized cave in and start the actual double helix.

Work is well under way.

Also, if you were wondering "Did he really pave all that? Why?!"

Well, I wanted to have a rectangular compound. Unfortunately, I was missing a lot of ground on the top left side.. and you can't build on constructed floors. So there was only one solution:

Not too shabby for a first design. The problem is coming up with a design that looks interesting and has a function too. It's a bitch to create, especially when dwarves decide to stand on the wrong side of the designation and lock themselves out.

Oh my. A city full of resources...

Make a lab. A mad scientist lab. What I mean is you will try things out, put an elf or a dwarf you don't care much for in a room. Fill it to 5/7 with water and let him stay in there. Important that he has access to beer and food.

Now just wait. What happens when the dwarf becomes sleepy? Can he sleep in such deep water? If he can't. What will the long-term effects of sleep deprivation be?
Will he go insane? Will he fall asleep and drown? Will he throw a tantrum and break the glass walls (glass walls are mandatory! everyone needs to see his suffering) or what will happen? Who knows?? Only you can find out!
