3Dwarf is a utility that can import saved maps and display them as a 3D image. Is that perhaps what you were looking for?

it isn't what I had in mind, but will work, probably better (just as long as you can see underground). thanks

Yeah 3Dwarf is the only program I know of that'll do that for you. Certain forts will look super badass and some (no glass texture?!?) not so much.

Sadly, my fort has no sand. will this program work with version 40.D11?

Edit:  it appears it will not work with 40.D11.

Have to grab the save file out of the folder, and transfer it to a regular 40d folder.
