Question about attack options
« on: April 23, 2009, 03:24:59 pm »

Suppose I'm fighting a pack of identical animals (e.g. 5 wolves)

When I press Shift-a to bring up attack options, is there any way of knowing which wolf in the list corresponds to which wolf on the map?

well the first one would probably be one that is on the same tile as you.then it probably goes in some clockwise/counterclockwise pattern im guessing.

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

It doesn't help, however, when there are multiple enemies on a square and one can't tell between them. As far as I know, there is no way of telling, short of examining the square, checking each in the list for injuries and suchlike, and hoping that carries over to the attack menu (which it ought).

This is Dwarf Fortress, a masterly crafted game. It is adorned with bands of epic, and is studded with spikes of awesome. On the game is an image of a toad and many dwarves. The dwarves are worshipping the toad. The toad is laughing. The dwarves are dying.

you can give nicknames to living creatures. should do the trick if you are really worried about those wolves.
