How do you make an image transparent?
I've tried what some other sites have said, but they don't seem to work.

I'm tired of my current avatar, so I want to change it, but this transparency thing is annoying.

I'm using GIMP by the way.

Layer->Transparency->Add Alpha Channel if it doesn't have one already (this will be grayed out if it does).

Then use the eraser tool to delete whatever you want to be transparent.

Heck, give me five minutes. I'll do it for you.

 Edit:

I used Paint.net. I merely selected the undesired background and the white outline with the magic wand and deleted it. Saved as a PNG, and uploaded it. You might need a different system for GIMP.

I find Paint.net is fine for my low-level edits and work with DF-related planning, and Photoshop for anything complex.

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

I have the image transparent, but this site refuses to show it as such.

EDIT:Nevermind, problem solved.
Should I add shading to it though?

The disgaea is over, I see.

It's been over for months, since I had Vyers as my avatar.

I just like to mess around in paint and make images.
