Personality traits and nobility jobs
« on: April 03, 2009, 08:19:36 pm »

My newest fortress just got enough people to support a sheriff, and I'm going through the list of prospects.  I'm wondering though, does a dwarf's personality influence his actions as sheriff?  Should I be looking for certain qualities or just pick someone?

I don't think there are any relevant skills for sheriff or captain of the guard, so just pick somebody.

Nor do I think personality has any effect on how the sheriff does his job. He will carry a criminal's sentence out to the letter no matter how nice or cruel of a guy he is.

I've never had a sheriff/captain make mandates.

PROTIP: only assign a sheriff when you absolutelly need to punish somebody. if it's a beating then you should pick a wimp to be the sheriff and draft and armor the unlucky criminal. see the sheriff break his knuckles!

i guess it depends on what you like to think of yourself in the game. i'm a mediator of sorts, between the nobility and the peasants, trying to keep them all healthy and happy.
