Carpets on floor, only if you can layer constructions on top of each other.

Furniture can already be put on top of constructed floors.

Yes, but if a carpet is furniture, then you can't put a table on top of your carpet.

And yeah, I've always been a fan of tapestry/banner suggestions, as well as allowing the sewing of cloth images onto any arbitrary item, since seriously, you can attach cloth to just about anything if you try hard enough.

Bear/Wolf/Camel etc hides should be able to be used as rugs, stuffed heads and such.

Hope this isn't considered necro...

Just did a search to figure out if people are suggesting/supporting the idea of being able to put bones/shells/skulls in bins.  This thread came up with the idea to put them in bags, but I seem to have enough for my bags to do right now.

There are several ideas in this thread that seem to have made it into the consideration stage, so here's to hoping bones/shells/skulls (and I'm assuming horn, etc) will one day be binnable.

Actually, come to think of it, why not let bones be put in bags and the bags be put in bins?

I don't know if it has been mentioned, but I think cloth decorations should be able to be tacked onto ANY object, not just cloth ones. After all, you can certainly have a door with a banner on it, or a window with curtains, etc.

I think this could fall under a change in decoration system + construction.  So you can decorate furniture with cloth and get "... with giant cave spider silk banner..." or "... with rope reed banner...".  Banner/carpet can be treated similar to a grate, where you can put in a floor as a carpet, or put it vertically as a banner (that still can be path-ed through).

One of the toads decided to go for a swim in the moat - presumably because he could path through the moat to my dwarves. He is not charging in, just loitering in the moat.

The toad is having a nice relaxing swim.
The goblin mounted on his back, however, is drowning.

In my endless quest to pimp my own threads: this decoration system would support that kind of thing.
