Only one big item left on my wish list...

That is, in terms of new features, not bug fixing.

It looks like the second-to-last item is being handled beyond my greatest expectations - world customization.

So all that's left is variable underground terrain. I mean, we spend pretty much the whole game mining and delving - the thing is, there's not a lot of fun stuff to run into.

I want underground lakes, streams, and caverns to be more common. Well-established tower cap forests. Oceans never seen by dwarven eyes. Extensive cave networks that don't necessarily open to the surface. Strange and interesting creatures lurking in the depths. Perhaps the occasional network of features all strung together like some great underground country.

Right now, delving is the safe way to go. Above ground is exposed and dangerous, but go down and put up a few traps and drawbridges, and you're pretty safe. Even demon pits can be pretty rare.

But what if the terrain underground was as dangerous and unpredictable as the terrain above? That would truly be a harsh world for dwarves to eke out an existence!

Losing is fun indeed  ;)

I think it would make the game more interesting and challenging. I guess it should be possible to avoid such locations aswell tough (you dont always want to build a fortress on the most dangerous locations) so... together with this should come a way to view this information before you embark, like how you can see the climate or the vegatation. there should also be a sort of:

Subterain abnormalities:
  Rare
  Frequent
  Hell

It would certainly go some distance towards improving my perception of dwarves as having the innate advantage in terms of lifestyle.

Maybe making it so that caveins happen randomly every once in a while?  Maybe once toady makes it so that 1 tile of support isn't enough it will get harder.

This suggestion is full of win, but unfortunately these things really take time to implement.

But it would really be cool if there were more features, but they were equally rare to the features we have now.

Lets say if we had underground oceans, tower cap forests, caverns and all that, we still would mostly only have 1-2 of these features in a embark zone, but the specific area would become more unique!

To this suggestion, i would personally like all extra biomes (chasm, magma, river/lakes, even HFS maybe) to repopulate! Sure, a tower-cap forest with some strange mushroom people (or whatever toady creates) would be really cool but the featured area kinda dies when all the creatures are killed or captured.

Although new underground features would be awesome to have, i think imroving FPS and looking into some AI performance issues is more of an urgent nature. I think that exploring new features with unique flora and fauna is among the more entertaining aspects of this game though, and i hope more features like the ones suggested here will be added!

For all those interested in seeing greater underground delights (and have not already done so), please head over to this thread and cast your vote for it.

Over the last several weeks the community has ran three polls of ideas, taken the top 3-4 from each and compiled a top ten. Now we are ordering said list.
