The vertical gaps are a bit confusing, but here's the key:

D is the first Door, opened with a lever
~ is water or magma, and enough of it to spread across the halls wavering between 1 and 2.

6-0 Doors, 1 to 6, 2 to 7, 3 to 8, 4 to 9, 5 to 0, x to y, x is the switch that opens y.

So you throw a switch, making the MAGMA start flowing down the corridor hitting the two pressure plates, opening the two doors to start a new flow of MAGMA.  This hits plate 3, which releases door 8 opening the MAGMA flow to open all other doors, hitting the FLOOD THE WORLD door last, which opens, flooding the connected corridor at the *, WITH MAGMA.

Take this theory, multiply it by 9001, and then you have a megaproject time bomb.
