So, I've got a pretty little .x file I made for myself in Blender. It looks like this:



I want to make shipset to use in Space Empires V, you see. However, I don't know how to texture it and it's too late for me to bother today, so instead of just waiting for tomorrow, I decided to check whether anybody here had experience with this sort of thing.

I don't mind if nobody knows, but I thought I'd just check to be sure.

You first have to UV map the object:

Looks like the texture size for the units is 256x256. So what I would do is once you've got your UV's lain out I'd export the UV's as say 512x512 and get as much detail as possible into the texture, then when it's done resize it down to 256x256 so it keeps the detail you made.
