My one-armed merchant
« on: March 30, 2009, 06:31:55 pm »

So, I got a bowman siege. It actually consisted of two squads, the bowman, and a melee lasher squad. The Bowman cut my military up pretty good, but I defeated them. The lasher squad meet the dwarf caravan, who were in my trade depot, and was completely annihlated. After literally a season of hauling crap from the field into the fort, the dwarfs left, leaving a merchant with a donkey and an axedwarf. The merchant, somehow, lost his right arm during the fight (His entire right arm is gone, and somehow sitting in my graveyard stock pile, stinking the place up). So, every other dwarf is gone, except a donkey, a one armed merchant, and an axedwarf, and I haven't a clue on how to remove them before the elves show their ugly faces.

I have no access to water or magma to dump onto their heads, and I'm wondering how I'll rid myself of this extra arm.

Build a wall around them, make the roof, put a match stick, (pillar) some where inside the room, remove walls, than make walls one tile away from the roof, (so it isn't supporting the roof) link pillar with lever, awwwwaaaaaaay from the site, pull, ??? PROFIT!

Also make sure caveins are on, but before you do make sure that your fortress is not unsupported in anyway.

Never mind, the situation resolved itself. The donkey went beserk, while the merchant became melancholy. The axedwarf cut the donkey in half, and then left the map, so the dwarf should starve himself to death in due time.

I don't think traders ever get hungry or thirsty. However, the melancholy dwarf should try to commit suicide, so make certain you have a nice big drop available for him to leap off. You don't want him to go down only three z-levels, break both legs, but survive; you'll never be rid of him then.

Problems been solved. I dropped a floor on his head, which killed him.
