I want to play in 1280x1024 resolution.
« on: March 21, 2009, 04:21:48 am »

My sort-of-extensive search yielded nothing. I want to play at this resolution with the default graphical settings. That means the default ASCII. What I want is to see more tiles on my screen cleanly.

[FULLSCREENX:1280]
[FULLSCREENY:1024]

[FULLGRID:160:85]

That will get you probably as close as you can get. There may be very, very minor distortion in 40d9, due to being four pixels too short but what can you do?

Edit: Doesn't seem to work properly anyway, for some odd reason.

Editedit: Probably because i edited the init file in the wrong folder. Lawlz

Trippleedit: Still seems to look a little funny on my monitor, but it may just be me.

Jack around with the GRID:x:y and WINDOWEDX:/WINDOWEDY: settings. Unless you are running in fullscreen mode, then it's FULLGRID and FULLSCREENX etc.

If you set GRID to lower values than the math would suggest for your X/Y and turn BLACK_SPACE off, you can scale the tiles up a bit without managing a bunch of different sized fonts in your main DF installation. I dunno if 40d has the built in scaling capability but d9 sure does.

If you want everything to fill the screen right, since 1280x1024 doesn't fit perfectly in the dimensions, make sure you turn blackspace on and make the grid settings be exact or smaller than the resolution.  Keep the resolution at 1280x1024 though.
