A Race Died Out in World Gen?
« on: March 29, 2009, 01:27:14 am »

Is it possible to have randomly generated a world where a race has died out completely?  One I generated randomly and haven't done anything else on has NO elves as far as I can tell.  I don't see any "retreats" and there don't seem to be any spots where elves are in the list of neighbors.

It's possible, especially with smaller worlds. It's a rarity for any world medium and larger to have an entire race die out, though. Obliterated civs are somewhat common, but to have all of them gone is an unusual occurrence.

Depending on what kind of worlds you generate it can be pretty common, I'm having trouble getting any dorfs on worlds I make... usually on 3rd or so try there's a few of them at least. :D

Yeah, this is pretty normal when one or more civilization(s) disappear(s) during world gen.

Normal for small worlds and for elves in particular. Elves start wars at the drop of a hat and if they don't have a numbers advantage (such as in small worlds, or early in world gen) they will get wiped out.
