[40d] Game hangs when loading save

Been looking around for while, and haven't found anyone else talking about this, so I thought I'd post it.

The game works fine, except when I try to load a saved fortress, then it just displays the loading screen and uses a small amount of cpu time until I hit space, which sends me back to the title screen. I've let it work for several hours a couple of times. It does this every time with every save. If I don't save I can play for several years, at least. I've also tried 40a-c, and it happens there, too. I'll post a save if you think that'll help.
