Can you ever run out of goblins/orcs?

Is it possible to wipe out a civilization by destroying every single last one of them that comes to your doorstep?

If you kill all the goblin leaders, they stop sieging, so I've been told.

You have to remove their intelligent tag to make then unending.

It's been my experience that if you wipe out all the goblin local leaders they just siege without them. You get units led by perfectly average gobbos.

They do seem to scale back the sieges a bit though. Post-leader, the sieges I get are all really piddly.

If you capture a leader and just keep him in a cage forever, does that affect the sieges any?  Also, how can you tell if a particular gobbo is a leader?  Do you have to look through the world history, or will it say "Leader" or something by his name on the Fortress Mode interface?

(edit)  Wow, I never realized that.  The more I learn about this game, the more I find out that I don't know yet.

[c], highlight the goblin civilization, [enter] to see the local leaders. During the siege itself they're the legendary dudes with good armor. Dunno about the caging thing. =/
