Tutorials?
« on: March 24, 2009, 08:08:04 pm »

Hi, relatively new player here. There is a great over abundance of tutorials for fortress mode, but i have been unable to find any tutorial for adventurer mode. The wiki gives a little bit of information, but nothing near the walkthroughs of the fortress mode.
Are there any guides out there? A basic howto with a bit of information about what to expect?

Thank you

Here is my tutorial.

1.Download a Roguelike.
2.Play said roguelike.
3.Add plenty of gore and dismemberment.
4.Add insane amounts of randomness in the combat.
5.Realize its unfinished.

Adventure mode. :)

Its still amazingly fun though, just play it like you would any other roguelike, execpt that you have alot more freedom, and can die alot easier. :)

Fair enough. I don't suppose you can suggest any roguelikes that are similar in theme and form to DF? size and scope are not an issue, but something that would prepare someone who is new to ascii games.

Did you see the wiki's Adv Mode Quick Reference and controls guide?  That was enough to get me started, although I had to go back and read the Travel section to figure out how to use the quest map.

Adv. Mode doesn't need walkthroughs mainly because there's just not nearly as much to do.
