I can't get it to assign skills when I make a character in adventure mode. it says "-+ to change", but it won't change. help?

If you're using a nonstandard keyboard, you might want to look for a workaround to make it work, or just reconfigure the keys.

Also, make sure you're using the numpad +- keys.

oh, I thought it meant the plus and minus meaning holding shift and =, and the minus next to it. thanks.

I know this is an old thread, and I apologize for necro'ing it, but I am having the same problem and am on a laptop without a number pad.  There is no work around that I can figure out and so it is impossible for me to assign skills when creating my adventurer.  Does anyone know of anything I can do?

Just re-asign the keys, you can check the wiki to know exactly which key to asign.
