I've been playing DF for a little under a week now, and am just starting to get the hang of it. However the game does not seem to be able to save using the [esc] menu (the save and quit option). The game auto saves fine when seasons change, creating a new folder in data\save, and those saves I am able to load with no problem. But, if I try to save my game manually the folder data/save/current updates and it's timestamp changes to whatever time it is when I save, but the folder itself is completely empty and I am unable to choose it from the load menu..
I am using MayDay's green tileset as reccomended by this tutorial.
Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Never mind, I was too quick to panic. After experimenting on my own with new saves I realized that everything gets saved to the region folder. Funny how this wasn't mentioned anywhere. Live and let learn I guess
