Skipped caravans?
« on: March 01, 2009, 12:55:57 pm »

Part of a dwarven caravan is jammed on a set of ramps next to my fortress, thanks to an issue with spacing when building the emergency depot the previous year. It's still there, and one of the merchants just went insane.

Now I've drained the original depot, the dwarves just skipped me entirely. The humans showed up fine, however.
How do I get rid of them to get the caravan back?
(Without using magma; I don't have any.)

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.

Ballistae might work.

Drown them.

Or deconstruct whatever they're jammed on until they've got a path to leave. That might work, too.

The wiki is notoriously inaccurate on subjects at the cutting edge, frequently reflecting passing memes, folklore, or the word on the street instead of true dwarven science.

Thank you! I build a floor under them, and they suddenly up and left!
