Altitude beta
« on: February 26, 2009, 05:08:17 pm »

http://www.altitudegame.com/

It's a 2d flight combat game with decently good physics(I don't know what realistic is, but you can stall, so it's probably good) and levels gained from playing that unlock unlockables.

There are 5 planes.

It stores 10 configurations.

Each configuration has 3 "perks", red green and blue, with red based on the current plane being alternate weapons, with the other being generic and useable for all of them.

It's currently in a semi-open beta, they allow something like 20 new players every 6 hours or so, but it's all handled by the client.
When the beta period ends, you will have to pay to gain access to all of the features, but until then there aren't limits.

On the other hand, very very few people play it, so you are almost guarenteed to get in.

I THINK, from seeing the file extensions during the install, that it was made in java.

Anyway, it's lacking in players and still in development, and it's quite fun.

Woo! Linux client!

That being said, I didn't download it. It doesn't seem to be my type of game.

ED: Now that I actually look at the pictures, it appears that it would  be quite fun. I'm downloading now. Not entirely sure why the client is 45MB, if there's still other stuff to download.
