swimming up by sleeping?

i remember hearing somewhere you could train swimming while sleeping. i want to know how this works since i cant sleep while swimming

I'm not sure about falling asleep while swimming, but I've managed to pull off this trick by finding a frozen river and falling asleep on it.  As you're sleeping, the river thaws and you fall in, and proceed to gain swimming experience.

This method is sort of dangerous, though; I think I got frozen last time I tried it.

Probably you saw it somewhere where it was written before Toady removed the ability to go to sleep while swimming.

Mulch's info is out of date.  Some of these exploits Toady's taken out are still flying around as rumors.  Be careful about what you hear.

you can still train that way but you need to have NOBREATHE or AQUATIC and may be NOEXERT as well.

What level of water are you trying to sleep in? I wonder if 4 would be the ideal spot.
