This brings up another interesting community project.

An Oblivion (alternately, Morrowind or Fallout 3) mod!

I know the OP didn't want to bring up Oblivion for hunting, but what are a few good hunting mods for Oblivion now, and how could they be improved?

I'll just suggest Martigen's Monster Mod.  It doesn't really add hunting, but a pretty sophisticated monster engine that makes them act more realistic, plus adds a whole butt-load of new creatures with variations of size and color for each.

Actually, I meant creating a mod. It seems that there are a lot of community projects going on in these forums, so I suggested another.

I haven't been around any modding communities for over half a year. A lot changes in that time, so I'm not the best to suggest things.

I see.  Well I could give advice, but count me out of helping.  I've got another little project on my hands.

Back when Oblivion first came out I was really into it and made a mod called Dynamic Crosshair.  I think you can still find it on TesNexus.com...er...here it is

It actually helped make the game a lot more immersive for me.  Someone could use it if they wanted, for a hunting project.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was partly supposed to be like that, but it turned out a tad shallower than we'd feared. It's still interesting if you like hunting mutants though. I wouldn't be surprised if there were some kind of mods that address that, too.

Stalker was pretty cool, but I couldn't get the game running on my machine with a decent frame rate.  Which is odd since I was able to run Oblivion at the highest settings.

I'm sorry to derail this further, but I think that was a problem with DX10 trying to be used when it's set to DX9 or something like that. It's easy to fix with whatever text editor you like. I can't remember what's supposed to be modified, though.

While I'm against wild game hunting, unless you're about to, you know, die from hunger, I think that game looks awesome. I will certainly give it a try. (the hunter that is)

Another way to fix some of the FPS problems is to put -noprefetch in the target line of the shortcut.

Thanks, I'll try some of those suggestions.

Isn't it funny how when we're on the "Various Nonsense" forum we just fight with each other about politics, and when we're in "Other Games" we are all buddies again?  Very odd.

People are odd.

About Oblivion mod: just one word. RADIANT AI. This F*ng stupid ai with some nice features. If you want to make a good mod there you should replace the current ai with your own complicated scripting or leave it for good.

P.S. Notrium is quite fine as an arcade survival, I've managed to beat it, but it becomes boring fast. It needs more features/content to be more interesting.

Ah yes! Thats the one. Thanks Shzar!

I'm glad I could help!

Let us know what you think of Notrium, Dakk. It's not everybody's cup of tea; I like the idea rather a lot, but it is challenging and it has an odd ... flavour to it. I've never managed to beat it. I suppose if I were to look up a guide or something that would help, but where's the fun in that?

Hunter is now open! The free to play players can hunt mule deer to their hearts content. I was lucky to get a 7 day VIP pass in my email and after 2 hours or more tracking bagged a white tail buck. Gorgeous engine.

The only hunting game i played was Carnivores 2 and kept me playing for a while... The only problem was the mystery of the teleporting dinosaurs... I tried calling Scooby Doo but he was eaten by a Tiranosaurus...
