Imps on bedrest?
« on: February 17, 2009, 10:36:27 pm »

One of my hunters recently killed a fire imp.  But rather than it ending with the imp being hauled to a butchers/refuse stockpile some jocular Dwarf put it in a bed.

Yah, it sounds like minecraft with content, you have obviously missed the point, people dont like content, they like different coloured blocks.
Seems to work fine with my copy. As soon as I loaded the human caravan came by and the world burst into fire.

And thus did the dream of dwarven antigravity fade away, not with a massive explosion or a flood of magma, but with a whimper.

I'm going to be depressed all day now.

Urich McFratBoy: Duuuuude. Cerol is upstairs kegging longland beer. I'm gonna stick this fire imp in his bed!

Ablel McDrunkJock: Awesome, dude. I totally want to see the look on his face when he rolls over and catches on fire. That'll be a riot! Remember when we put that hydra in Bims bed last spring? The look on his face...

Bim McOneLeg: Dude, that was totally not cool. Do you have any idea how long it takes me to crawl over to the workshop? Hey, mind fetching me a bucket of water and maybe a fish?

oh its easy, someone got really confused when they were doing a hauling task then decided to simplify things by just forgetting about it and dropping the imp where they were standing. and they just happened to be standing on a bed. i had this happen all the time when my main entrance went through the barracks, to catch all the kobolt theives. often things on the way to the butcher would end up left on the beds in there. dead horse anyone?

i totally like the drunken prank excuse better though. i hope toady starts putting things in in regards to dwarves doing things to each other due to personality, grudges and jealousies. he said something about that in an interview.

Hi!

Is it the hunter's bed by any chance? I recall people reporting temporary trophy collecting by dwarves.

The sudden job change is the other probable cause. I found that unhappy dwarves wanting to talk to the expedition leader sometimes forget putting down the barrel they were drinking from - maybe a similar chain of events?

It's dwarven healthcare at it's finest.

"Ignore the legendary dwarf out on the battlefield!"

"But doctor, if we don't get him in and treat his arms stat, he will die!"

"Shutup! We can bring this imp back if we have teamwork! Clear!" *thud* "Clear!" *thud*

"Armok damn it all!! Today, this fire imp died in the prime of his life. He shall be sorely missed."

"Did'you guys here? Tosid threw a party at the Alunite statue!"

"Screw this shit I'm gonna go party"

The Bed was unassigned...

Unfortunately the hunter in question has gone fey, and I don't have any shells for him. Which really sucks cause he was the best hunter I've ever had.

I wonder if the Dwarf hauling it got tired and hauled it to bed with him.  The odd thing is that the sleeping quarters are on the oposite side of my workshops from where the pipe was where it was killed.

hah! i totally need to get one of those horse heads.

and dwarves are totally weird on rare occasions when it comes to carrying stupid things with them when they change their mind about what they are doing. ive found when i build my shops in funny places dwarves will buy stuff then sometimes go leave it in demented places because they decided they wanted to be somewhere else halfway through hauling it back to their quarters.

unrelated, wrestlers when sparring seem to allways litter the ground with their opponents clothing, and often never reclaim it. and dwarves dont move it because it doesnt belong to them.
