Old 2D version issuses
« on: February 17, 2009, 01:41:44 pm »

I decided to try the classic DF experience, but i can't get the screen to a comfortable size.

I've tried messing with the init file, but it gives me some messed up screen instead.

If i want a screen 1024 by 800, what curses font do i use? and how do i get this working right?

Well, customizable screen size became a reality not so long ago. I doubt there is a way to change it in the much older versions without editing more than the init.

In earlier versions of DF, you could still set screen size at anything you like but the grid was always 80:25

yeah, you cant do better than 80x25, but you can set your resolution to whatever you want.  you just have to make sure that your tile dimensions multiplied by your grid size are exactly equal to your resolution.

its possible to have streaching or cropping for mis-shaped tiles, i think, but its undesireable.  as you might imagine.

On the downloads page, versions 0.23.** and earlier, I believe.
