The sea; aquifers and water wheels.
« on: February 20, 2009, 01:45:39 pm »

Hi. My current fortress is situated next to the sea but my current plans are being hindered by a need for power. Unfortunately the two aquifer levels are beneath sea level and thus I have no where to channel them. Is there any other method where I could use water wheels? I initially thought one aquifer could flow into another but that just resulted in flooding  :P

Why not have the sea flow into an aquifer?

Ahh. I tried the reverse which didn't work but I'll test that now. Thanks.

You can just have the aquifer drain back into itself.  You need flow though, so channel and area into the aquifer, install wheels with power to a pump that leads to another channel back into the aquifer.  Just make sure that the only place water can go is back into that channel or the pump can output more water than can get back to the aquifer and therefore flood.  Might have to manually kick-start the pump.
