Forcing dwarves to rest
« on: February 16, 2009, 04:36:53 am »

One of my marksdwarves had her lung pierced by a goblin bowman. At first she tried to crawl to  free bed but then decided to return to the fight. Well the few goblins were finished off quickly but she refused to leave her post to get some rest. I un-drafted her but it didn't elp either. Now she is dancing on my flint tables and partying. Is there any way I could force her into bed and to rest?

some reasons may be that you have locked the door after she went outside, there is no free bed, or if its just her lung that is red she will be that way forever as you cant heal mangled organs you better take her from military as she will go uncouncious 25% of the time or something and that aint so good when goblins are charging

Retire her to fortress/royal guard duty. So what if she happens to pass out protecting some noble :)

depends if its your legendary manager or Dungeon master then you may want to save them, dont know if it helps but try to make her a pump operator to get some toughness, i think she wont pass out as often

I don't have that many free beds available and it might be that someone went to sleep on one of them when she was still walking to it. She's is extremely tough though  and hasn't passed out a single time. She is also my only elite marksdwarf. The only effect of her injury is that she is constantly winded. Oh and this from the wiki: "Limbs are more likely to eventually heal than internal organs"
So there might be still some hope for her. I'll just keep her drafted and let her train.
