My bets - he just embarked on map with no stone and wants free stone reactions/ way to get stone he cant find. I also say that he didnt dug out the map, but hes too shy to ask for cheats so he kills two elves with one arrow - claims an epic deed and gets what he wants - cheats.

Wow. Troll much? There's no such thing as a map with no stone, unless your aquifer is somehow indestructible. Besides, anyone here would be happy just to tell him the cheat/exploit. :P

Anyway, 2x2 map wouldn't be that hard to dig out, especially with only 15 underground z levels. At a little over 9000 stone per z level, it's doable.

A plot is 64x64, if memory serves. 2x2 would be 16,000 stone. Assuming 15 z-levels of stone (flat map with soil) that's 240,000 stone. With that kind of stone, you'd make 135 legendary miners and 400 legendary masons or 400 legendary stone carvers. Now, maybe with an ocean or aquifer you'd have half that much, but I just can't imagine even trading that much stuff.

A flat map with a soil layer would only have 14 z-levels of stone (15 underground z-levels, 1 of which is soil)
