Apparently the current slowdown (not the previous ones) is being caused by a network-wide issue for them.  So I should call them if I have problems on a future day.  I guess I'll try again later, he he he (they couldn't find anything in their logs, so they asked me to call the instant something happens so they could catch it in the act).

Okay, I managed to phone them during a proper outage.  Apparently my "max clients" was set to 10, and now it is set to 30.  When the support person reset it, the outage ended, so this should help a bit hopefully.  In my current virtual server set up, it can't be set any higher than 30, but we'll see how this works before doing anything more drastic.

Everything seems much faster and more responsive now, when earlier today the site would take a long time to load.  Not to say it's totally fixed, but it seems to be working fine from NYC.

There was another downtime just now, but it had different symptoms.  Called it in and the guy rebooted me.  Seems fine now, but we weren't really sure what the root cause was.

Well, it's definitely better in the last couple of days. It's good to see, that you've found a reliable host finally, Toady. It looks like that they care about their customers at least. [Unlike the previous host..]

Seconding the better performance recently.  Every once in a while I see a little slowdown that sends me scurrying off to this page...but then it actually does load, or a refresh fixes it, and I realize there was no real problem after all.
