Hi!

Another way of having a tough life is having a very low population cap and then settling in a heavily goblin-infested area. Four ambush groups per season attacking a ten dwarf fortress is still tough, even if you build traps.

I demand a Adamentine Golem that initiates Armageddon mode.

The upcoming release looks promising. But until then, just play some dangerous maps. Look around this forum, there are some awesome locations to be found. To get you started, here's an old thread of mine that has a couple of great places to die at. I'm not sure what version you need to generate them, but I'm fairly sure it was the latest version at the time when the thread was posted.

What happens if you add a pack tag to werewolves? Or decipher what makes them tick and add it to elephants? Or is werewolf behavior simply hardcoded?

It's [LARGE_PREDATOR], I think.

Thank you, for that vision of packs of zombie whales stalking the land. I imagine I shall have no trouble sleeping tonight.

It's almost as bad as the lever in my bedroom.

Hello!

Actually, I am not that much impressed by the vision of zombie whales. But there are some unnerving things in DF.

Back in the old days with the murderous unicorns, I had two fortresses suffering from that menace. My engravers did a lot of engravings of "dwarf X and unicorn y. Dwarf x is making a plaintive gesture. Unicorn y is laughing." I don't know, but imagining that unicorn with a nasty snarl really creeped me out.

Unicorns have horns designed to impale - they're [good], because no one wants to be the one to tell a pack of temperamental beasts with bloody lance growing out of their heads that they're wrong. They're wild calvary, no knight needed.

Never had too much interaction with them, tho; generally didn't have them, tho they claimed their share of immigrants and caravans back in 2D - probably just lucky. Elephants were more of a problem, especially when herds decided to 'migrate' through my courtyard befor my exterior defences were complete - rampaging elephants trapped in the fort were always fun.
