Different starting party sizes
« on: January 09, 2007, 01:56:00 pm »

Is there any reason why just seven dwarves decide to hit the road and build a fortress? I always seem to run out of dwarves to perform task and then need to micromanage one or two dwarves to keep up production of all needed items. Few extra ones, even for the price of 100 per face would help.

It would give more different starting builds. A party of a dozen peasents, a pick and no other supplies might be intresting. Or the other end and going with a single master of all trades.

Is Snow White kinda goth?  Maybe she would dig it.

Once the dwarves actually come from somewhere or are otherwise fit in with the world, I think it's more likely that different start configurations will happen, since it'll be easier to see what should be available with respect to the source civilization.  This is one of those things which will come to a head during the Army Arc, though I'm not sure what I'll do at that time specifically.
