40d Wierd Water Bug
« on: July 16, 2009, 07:00:14 pm »

So I had an underground pool two z levels above a room.
I placed doors to the room, and constructed a stair case in the back of the room like so, two of them, up and down stairs.

I dug up one z-level with both.
I dug up one more z-level with one, and as expected the water starts flowing down the stairs, but when it reaches the bottom floor, it does not pour out into the room. NOW there is floor beneath these up down stairs (constructed stair remember) and it's a natural floor. There is no aquifer on this map. There is no stream or river at least, one that I have discovered. The constructed stair that the water flows is where the water stays, but it keeps coming, mist spreading out from it like a water fall. The whole pool drains into this one square, and disappears. Poof like magic, leaving behind a muddy constructed stair case, and an empty pool.

Strange...

Was that magic floor on/near the bottom level of the map?

Maybe it's something strange with aquifers?  I've heard they can not only produce but also absorb infinite amounts of water.  I've never played with one personally though.
