[40d] Completely isolated piece of ocean
« on: January 24, 2009, 08:02:41 pm »

I'm playing in a slightly modded world - I've removed the [AQUIFER] tags from certain stone types, but I don't see how that could affect this.

What I've got is a small, rectangular piece of ocean that's in the centre of my map, completely surrounded by land. It is still salt water, and still produces waves. The embark screen led me to believe I was embarking on a seashore, but most of the area it showed as ocean biome is just the rock layer that was listed as being underneath the ocean. Even on the mini-map, the entire area shows as double blue tildes, but...there's no water in it.

I've uploaded a map here, though you can't see the waves there, I can confirm they're there.

Hi!

You know, I think you have a world with a very bad case of global warming. That probably had been a great ocean, but has now withered to this poor nothingness...

You should find plenty of salt in the surrounding area :) :) :) :) :)

Is that water properly sourced? Try draining it and be the first to drain an ocean! :P

This one came up for me a few versions ago and Toady wasn't sure whether it had already been totally fixed or not: http://www.bay12games.com/forum/index.php?topic=7019.0

So I guess it didn't get cleaned up after all.

It was meant that the larger area belie'ed to be ocean (minimap thinks so) is dry.
