Stray Mayor (Tame) is more experienced.
« on: January 18, 2009, 12:46:54 am »

While playing a mod with a pet that has [CAN_LEARN] and [CAN_SPEAK], I was surprised to see the announcement that '[name], Stray Mayor, is more experienced.'  I bit of investigation with the nobles screen and the unit viewer determined that one of these pets (trained for war, I believe) had indeed been chosen as mayor.  Aside from the 'Stray Mayor' title and purple color, he seems just like the others.

I was able to appoint another of them as Captain of the Guard.  I remember being unable to make an intelligent pet my broker in earlier versions, so I assume this isn't intended.

Evidently the dwarven election process is better then the American one.  I was all for Daffy Duck for president, but they said he wasn't a citizen.

DG's DF Mod I.  The creature is a humanoid I added to give some extra flavor when playing one of my evil civs in Fortress Mode.  Creature def. follows:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

They're tougher than war dogs, but they still don't last long against armed soldiers and giant carp and such.

Oh, and this is with version 40d5, I think.
